Trained by painters Léon Cogniet (1794-1880) and Carolus-Duran (1837-1917), Amédée Rosier was primarily a marine painter.
As a traveler, he visited Egypt, North Africa and Constantinople, but it was to Venice that he devoted most of his work.
He won medals at the 1876 Salon (Lagune, le soir à Venise) and at the 1889 Exposition Unniverselle ( Le Grand Canal, Venise).
