Landscape painter adopted in 1905 by Monsieur Apy of Marseille, he henceforth bore the name Vivès-Apy.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and the Salon des Indépendants. His paintings retain the imprint of Cézanne's works.
In 1911 in an article defending Cézanne's work he wrote: "he will remain as an example of genius in the company of old masters" "Pages d'album. Le peintre Aixois Cezanne", Le Mémorial d'Aix, journal politique, artistique et littéraire, 74e année, n° 14, jeudi 16 février 1911, p. 1:
He was awarded the Légion d'Honneur in 1923.
Paintings in the Musée des Beaux-Arts and the Musée Cantini in Marseille.
