Frédéric Vidalens, born in Brive-la-Gaillarde in 1925 and died in Versailles in 2004, was a French painter and engraver who was a student of Jean DUPAS at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in Paris between 1944 and 1949.
A figurative painter close to the aesthetic of Georges Rohner, his paintings, with their pared-down style and pastel colors, are still lifes featuring everyday objects - tablecloths, napkins, books, skittles, eggs, sewing machines - in geometrically structured compositions.
