Beautiful, strong European blade from the 17th century. Typical 17th century blade frequently found in Europe mounted on ItalianItalian Schiavonas, Scottish boadswords to Hungarian and Polishfrom Hungary and Poland. Blades that were obviously heavily exportedand prized in North Africa, as they are frequently found mounted on17th century nimchas.
Pobably Italian or Central European blade in view of the serrated eyelashes common below the back of the blade. Also engraved are Latin letters in the gutters.
Single-edged straight blade with counter-edge on the last third.
Horn handle. Missing ferrule at bottom of handle.
Small accidents to horn. The whole remains solid, with no play.
