Table Lamp - Amethyst Resin & Chrome - Italy, Circa 1970

Markable Italian table lamp from the 1970s, a period of creative effervescence when transalpine design set the world standard. The monolithic shaft in translucent cast resin, in an intense amethyst hue, features bubble inclusions trapped in the mass - an artisanal process characteristic of the high-class Italian workshops of that decade. The rectangular cross-section with bevelled corners lends the piece a strong sculptural character. The chromed metal sphere articulating the shaft and socket, and the cylindrical shade in brushed silver metal, are fully in keeping with the formal vocabulary of the Italian space age, in the spirit of Romeo Rega's designs.

Unsigned piece, attributable to a Milanese or Venetian design studio of the 1970s.
