Daum Frères Nancy George De Feure Antique Art Deco Glass Vase Patte-de-verres
Artist: George De Feure
France Art Déco
Georges de Feure (1868-1943)
This magnificent vase was designed by Georges de Feure (1868-1943). Of Dutch origin, he lived mainly in France. A multi-talented artist, he was a painter, designer of furniture, glassware, stained glass, ceramics, theater sets and much more. He first became known for his elegant Art Nouveau posters.
This vase, made in France in the Art Deco style, is in molded glass paste. It features a bas-relief of three classical female figures (possibly the Three Graces) playing musical instruments and dancing.
Christie's indicates that it was commissioned by Maison Fauchon and made by DAUM FRÈRES NANCY. Circa 1910. The signature "G. de Feure" is molded into the base.
As was fashionable at the time, the vase was created to imitate an archaeological piece, as evidenced by the artificial cracks, bubbles and patina.
This example is in good condition, adorned with a gilded border and foot, decorated with laurel leaves.
Dimensions : 14.5 x 12 cm / 992 g
