Octagonal Bauhaus Box, Ash, Walnut, Maple, Mahogany, Velvet, Vienna, Circa 1920
One-of-a-kind Bauhaus / Art Deco box, octagonal (eight-sided) shape, from Austria, Vienna, circa 1920.
Solid ash wood sides. Walnut-veneered lid with maple and mahogany star-shaped inlay.
Slightly protruding base with rounded, blackened rim. Rests on eight round brass balls at the bottom.
Interior lined with dark blue velvet and trimmed with cord. Oval mirror in the center of the inside of the lid.
Original brass lock, hinges and small hardware. 2 keys included. Restored, hand-polished with shellac.
