Popular art from the late 19th or early 20th century .
Horse head : this is a fragment of a large, highly decorative merry-go-round horse.
The head is carved and cream lacquered wood , is broken at the neck .
Period: late 19th or 20th century.
Condition: in its uncovered state , the light wood ( attacked by carpenter ants (a long time ago ) , the cream lacquer is chipped in several places on the head , one ear missing .
The wood has been treated and soaked with xylophene and wood hardener as a precaution by us ( it remains to the soc-key) .
