Maurice Louvrier (1878 - 1954), Oil On Canvas Of A Still Life, Vase With Bouquet

Artist: Maurice Louvrier (1878 – 1954)

Today, I present an oil on canvas by Maurice Louvrier, an artist whose talent follows in the footsteps of the great currents of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and Naturalism.

Trained at the Lycée Corneille and then at the Rouen School of Fine Arts, Louvrier combines a rigorous artistic culture with a unique sensibility, visible in every brushstroke.

This work, a still life depicting a bouquet of flowers, embodies all the artist's mastery.

Vivid colors and subtle contrasts capture the light and life of the petals, while shades of green and blue bring depth and harmony to the composition.

The textured rendering, typical of his technique, gives an impression of movement, as if the flowers were still breathing.

Maurice Louvrier left his mark on his era far beyond his art.

He was president of the Société des artistes rouennais, a role that testifies to his commitment to the local art scene.

His career was also that of a man of duty: mobilized during the First World War (1914-1919), he served in the 36th infantry regiment after his initial military service (1900-1902).

This painting is framed under glass, an essential protection to preserve the pigments and canvas from the ravages of time.

The work's dimensions are 24 x 29 cm, while the frame, in gilded wood, brings the whole to 44 x 49 cm, offering an elegant and timeless presentation.

Several of his paintings are now housed in prestigious museums, such as those in Rouen, Caen and Louviers, proof of the lasting recognition of his work.

To acquire a work by Louvrier is to treat yourself to a piece of Norman art history, but also to a unique piece, charged with emotion and technique.
