This authentic lantern clock features a quadrangular frame made entirely of wrought iron with straight pillars.
Its face is adorned with a large circular brass dial engraved with Roman numerals for the hours, complemented by delicate cross motifs between the numerals.
The two hands, crafted from intricately cut iron, indicate the hours and minutes with great elegance.
The top is crowned with an openwork cast brass pediment, depicting two stylized cherubs or angel figures supporting a central medallion.
An imposing bronze striking bell surmounts the entire structure, secured by an upper metal frame.
This mechanism is entirely characteristic of the work of Le Franc in Pont-Farcy, a famous dynasty of clockmakers from Lower Normandy active in the 18th century, renowned for the robustness and refined rusticity of their rural timepieces.
The piece is in good overall condition, having retained its original ropes and lead suspension weights.
