Periscope from the Second World War.
It consists of a cylindrical, straight tube fitted with a 45° mirror at each of its open ends: light enters through the upper end and emerges at the observer’s eye level on the lower side. This optical instrument thus enabled soldiers to observe the battlefield whilst remaining concealed in the trenches.
Retractable wooden handle.
Marked ‘M. G. No. 51/808’, ‘SRPI PUTEAUX’ and ‘MILLIEMES G 6x’.
Leather case with belt loops, marked ‘6X’.
