Superb vermeil brooch by Maison Zolotas produced in collaboration with the National Museum of Athens
This beautiful brooch depicts a butterfly with outstretched wings, directly inspired by a gold plate from the Mycenaean period discovered by archaeologist Schliemann in 1876.
In the early 1970s, Konstantina Zolotas turned to the great myths of Hellenistic history, drawing inspiration from the designs and shapes of objects and jewelry made throughout the different civilizations. Between 1970 and 1975, this desire led to a unique collaboration with the collections of the National Museum of Athens.
The brooch bears the Zolotas goldsmith's hallmark and the number of the limited edition piece
The manufacturing technique is based on the main principles of chrysotechnie, including repoussé and hammering.
This technique gives the metal a particular shine and patina, which will make Zolotas famous and appeal to a prestigious clientele.
