Bust In Sculpted Marble
Beautiful sculpture in carved white marble featuring the bust of the "Diane/Artemis dite de Versailles".
The original of this antique sculpture has long been on display in the Galerie des Glaces at the Château de Versailles since the time of King Louis XIV. After the French Revolution, it joined the collections of the Musée du Louvre, where it remains to this day.
Edition of very fine craftsmanship, executed in statuary white marble and signed on the reverse by the Italian sculptor Guglielmo Pugi ( 1850-1915). the set is in perfect condition and dates from the last third of the 19th century.
