4-panel Chinese Folding Screen
A four-part Chinese folding screen, dating from the second half of the 20th century and composed of black lacquered panels, stands out for its richly decorated, masterly figurative composition. Each segment is decorated with delicately carved scenes depicting dynamic characters - horsemen, mythological or historical figures - moving among stylized clouds and landscape elements. The composition is enhanced by meticulous inlays - stones in a variety of colors and raised elements - which give the surface life and texture. The edges are adorned with small gold ornaments, underlining the elegance and oriental aesthetic of the screen. The inner side is decorated with a more restrained linear landscape, featuring mountain and water motifs, allowing the screen to be used on both sides.
