Artist: Attribué à Albert Marquet
Albert MARQUET, born in Bordeaux in 1875, showed an early talent for drawing.
His mother enrolled him at the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs where, in 1892, he met Henri Matisse, six years his senior. At the end of 1893, he joined Gustave Moreau's class at the Beaux-Arts. There, he met up with Matisse and befriended Henri Manguin, Georges Rouault, Jules Flandrin and Charles Camoin, who formed his most loyal circle of friends. With them, he embarked on the adventure of Fauvism.
