Pair Of Chinese Chairs, Qing Dynasty, 19th Century
A pair of high-backed square-backed chairs from the Qing Dynasty, dating to the 19th century, featuring carved aprons and side rails. Each chair, which varies slightly in size, is topped by a high backrest crowned with a gently curved rail. The central section features a concave slat, creating a soft contrast with the convex, more defined lines of the side supports. Below, the rectangular wooden seat rests on four straight legs, whose sturdiness is accentuated by a scalloped apron at the front and lateral struts that add strength and visual connection between the legs.
