Pair Of Porcelain Candlesticks – Ferdinand Era, 18th Century, 1780–1790.
Pair of Porcelain Candlesticks – Ferdinand IV Period, 18th Century, 1780–1790. Origin: Italy, Naples – Royal Porcelain Factory of Capodimonte (Reign of Ferdinand IV of Bourbon). Marks: Unmarked (a typical feature of this floral tableware production) Condition: Excellent condition, splendid preservation of the original polychrome and gilding. Description of the Work Rare pair of soft porcelain candlesticks, entirely hand-modeled and decorated in polychrome and pure gold. The design reflects the refined naturalistic taste of late 18th-century Neapolitan porcelain production: the shaft is shaped like a tree trunk wrapped in leaves shaded in tones of green and turquoise, enriched with pink and purple buds applied in relief. The upper finial and the star-shaped base are composed of stylized corollas and leaves, embellished with rich brush-applied gilding. Critical Note and Authenticity Although lacking a mark beneath the base—a common practice for everyday objects and furnishings from the Real Fabbrica Ferdinandea—attribution is guaranteed by the unmistakable quality of the soft paste, the typical color palette, and the masterful rendering of the botanical details. A high-period piece, intact and of great collector’s interest.
