Antique 1892 London Sterling Silver Repoussé Leaf Pin Dishes Pair William Comyns
Pair of 1892 sterling silver pin dishes, hallmarked in London. The dishes were manufactured by the silversmithing firm William Comyns & Sons and are designed in a naturalistic leaf form. Each dish features extensive repoussé and chased decoration across its entire upper surface, including detailed motifs of birds perched on branches and various floral blooms. The center of each dish contains a circular, slightly recessed basin with an engraved floral bouquet and a stippled border.A small, curved ring handle is attached to the stem end of each leaf. The undersides of the dishes are smooth and bear a complete set of British hallmarks, including the "WC" maker's mark, the lion passant for sterling purity, the leopard's head town mark for London, and the lowercase "r" date letter for 1892. The silver shows natural patination and a uniform metallic luster consistent with late Victorian manufacture. Physical characteristics include minor surface scratches and indentations from use over approximately 130 years.Approximate Dimensions & Weight:Incl. Handle H: 7 x L: 19 x W: 15.5 cmTotal: 345 grams
