Pierre-Jules Mêne, French sculptor born in Paris on 25March 1810 died in Paris on May 20, 1879.

He is considered one of the leadingrepresentatives of animal sculpture in the 19th century.He was the father-in-law of sculptor Auguste Cain (1821-1894), with whom he worked.whom he collaborated.

His first job was to model subjects for porcelain factories.porcelain factories, he nevertheless spent a great deal of timeplant garden, from which he brought back sketches and smallanimal models
