Large Chettinad Door Brackets – Yalis And Horsemen, 19th Century
This important pair of carved architectural consoles from Chettinad, Tamil Nadu, features a rich decoration of yalis, horsemen, and vegetal motifs deeply carved in a particularly dense exotic wood. 19th-century work, possibly earlier. They are currently mounted on a steel stand designed for display but can easily be dismantled and reintegrated into an interior or architectural project.
Dimensions on steel stand: H 128 cm x W 30 cm x D 30 cm. Dimensions of the consoles alone: H 120 cm x W 11 cm x D 34 cm. Weight: approximately 30 kg each with stand. Sold only as a pair, with a certificate of provenance.
