Art Deco bust of a little girl in terracotta signed Ugo Cipriani early 20th
Created by Italian artist Ugo Cipriani (1887-1960), this "Terre cuite d'art" bust from the Art Deco period (1910-1939) depicts a smiling young girl with voluminous, richly wavy hair.
Figured in flamed terra cotta stamped "Terre cuite d'art" & signed by its author on the terrace, it is stamped with an "in-between" style, at once profoundly neoclassical, we feel the Art Deco movement rubbing off on elements of this design, between realism & stylistic geometry.
Stable, robust, its shape will make this objet d'art as much a beautiful decorative element in a living room on a piece of furniture, as in a study in a library between books! I don't recommend putting it in an outdoor setting, unless it's sheltered from wind, rain & frost (ex: Veranda.)
