Etienne BOVIER-LAPIERRE was born in Saint-Chamond, Loire, in 1908. He died in Veyrier du Lac in 1987. He attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Etienne until 1926. A close friend of Francis Cariffa, with whom he practiced mountaineering, he also painted high-mountain landscapes. He was a member of the Artistes Français and the Société des peintres de montagne. Etienne Bovier-Lapierre is featured in "Bénézit" and in the book "Les peintres de la Savoie" by Anne Buttin and Sylvain Jacqueline.
