Pair of covered cassolettes in black marble, chased, gilded and patinated bronze, decorated with vine leaves and putti, on a stepped quadrangular base , decorated with bas relief with putti.

Henri Picard, gilder and bronzier, settled in Paris from 1831 to 1839, Rue Jarente and from 1840 to 1864, Rue de la Perle.
He was commissioned by Napoleon III to create the gilding that adorned his apartments in the Palais du Louvre.
An art and furnishings bronzier, he executed a wide variety of objects and pieces, in the highest quality of gilded bronze chasing such as centerpieces, candelabras, sconces and mantelpiece trimmings.
He earned his reputation and became a supplier to the entire bourgeoisie of the time.
