N. 6 Scenes From The "mysteries Of The Rosary" - Central Italy Follower Of Maratta, XVII C.
Artist: Sphère De Carlo Maratta (1625 Camerano - 1713 Rome)
Six oil paintings on canvas mounted on poplar panels depicting scenes from the Mysteries of the Rosary, executed by an artistic workshop active in the Papal States. It is highly likely that this workshop was formed under the influence of the Marche-born master Carlo Maratta (1625, Camerano – 1713, Rome) during the second half of the 17th century.
The scenes of the Mysteries of the Rosary are devotional works usually placed in chapels. There are originally fifteen scenes of the Mysteries of the Rosary: 5 Joyful Mysteries, 5 Luminous Mysteries, and 5 Sorrowful Mysteries.
The dimensions of the ovals are 33 x 26 cm. The dimensions of the Nativity scene with frame are 56 x 46 cm.
The paintings are in excellent condition.
We provide a certificate of authenticity with the sale.
