Set Of 8 Compagnie Des Indes Porcelain Plates Qianlong Period Circa 1735 1750
Eight Compagnie des Indes porcelain plates from China, Qianlong period (1736-1795), famille rose décor with floral bouquets
Elegant export porcelain plates from China, a model made for the European market during the reign of the Qianlong emperor in the 18th century.
These pieces feature refined polychrome decoration in the famille rose style, adorned in the center with an asymmetrical floral bouquet in shades of pink, mauve and green, surrounded by delicate floral semis. The wing is enriched with pink rocaille reserves framed by brown-gold fillets and small floral compositions, testifying to the European rococo taste particularly sought after in Compagnie des Indes commissions.
The slightly contoured shape and the balance of the decoration perfectly illustrate the adaptation of Chinese workshops to Western models intended for an aristocratic or bourgeois European clientele.
The reverse, unmarked, features a fine paste and a heel in keeping with 18th-century export production.
