This model, inspired by Near Eastern pilgrim gourds, became an emblem of refinement under the Ming and Qing dynasties
The circular body features a central medallion on each side animated by the theme of the "Hundred Antiques". It features flowering vases on saddles, incense burners
, auspicious symbols and fruit baskets for longevity. The rim and neck are decorated with lotus scrolls and foliage. The two handles are dragon-shaped.
China - late Qing dynasty, 19th century
Please note an old chip on the upper rim of the neck.
