Rouen Earthenware Dish XVIIIᵉ - Trianon Crown With
Large Rouen earthenware dish XVIIIᵉ - Trianon crown with "CH" arms, Royal House production
Important Rouen earthenware dish, dating from the XVIIIᵉ century, featuring grand feu decoration in blue and red.
The center is adorned with an escutcheon of the "CH" arms, topped by a Trianon-type crown, a heraldic typology associated with productions destined for the Royal House or its entourage. This type of marking, which is particularly sought-after, lends the piece a historic and prestigious character.
The contoured wing is outlined with a broad blue fillet, framed on either side by a frieze of geometric motifs, in a decorative spirit typical of Rouen productions of the XVIIIᵉ century.
Rouen earthenware, developed notably under the impetus of figures such as Edme Poterat, established itself from the XVIIᵉ century as one of France's major productions, influenced by Italian and Oriental models. In the XVIIIᵉ century, it reached a particularly high level of refinement, with richer, more structured decorations.
This dish is part of these quality productions, combining elegant design and technical mastery. It testifies to a mastered production, while at the same time being able to be considered a study piece in the evolution of armorial decorations, and a genuine showcase object.
