"Angels in prayer" - Pair of bookends

Elegant pair of polychrome glazed earthenware bookends depicting two kneeling angels in prayer, facing each other in a composition imbued with gentleness and serenity.

The figures, dressed in long robes in shades of blue-gray, are accompanied by large wings delicately enhanced with pinkish nuances. The whole rests on shaded brown geometric bases, in a typically Art Deco spirit.

The stylized treatment of the figures, the sobriety of the lines and the quality of the enameling give this pair a fine decorative presence.

Subject:"Angels at Prayer"
