Beautiful Louis XV Cane-back Armchair Attributed To Louis Or Michel Cresson
Artist: Louis Ou Michel Cresson
A handsome Louis XV period cane-bottomed armchair in molded and carved natural beech. Its Regency form, with the shoulders of the backrest and the high-relief decoration of pomegranates on the waistband and backrest, as well as the palmettes at the top of the legs, These archaic motifs, so dear to the Cresson family, allow us to attribute it to one of the members, Louis or Michel rather, of this famous family of joiners (see the last two photos showing an armchair and a chair characteristic of their styles, where the shapes and motifs of our armchair are found).
Elegance and comfort, enhanced by a brown leather cover, are the hallmarks of this very handsome caned chair with its beautiful golden patina, suitable for use as an office chair.
Antique use and maintenance restorations, notably to the rear leg tips.
This seat has been treated, cleaned and polished.
