19th-century Russian Icon Depicting The Three Saints
This small, finely crafted icon depicts the three Russian holy martyrs: Simonas, Gurij, and Abibos, venerated in the Russian Orthodox tradition as martyrs and confessors of the faith. The three figures are depicted in full face, each with a silver halo in polychrome enamel
their liturgical vestments meticulously detailed, enhanced by a splendid silver and gilded silver border, chiseled with precision by Moscow goldsmiths at the end of the 19th century.
The saints are characterized by individual features: the serene face of Simonas, the long ascetic beard of Gurij, and the youthful face of Abibos. Their hands make gestures of blessing or hold scrolls, symbols of the Word and of their work of evangelization. In the background, a delicate engraved floral decoration further embellishes the composition, emphasizing its devotional and ornamental character.
Hallmarks on the robes of the three saints, and in the lower right corner. Two letters with 84. While on the robes, head turned to the right, two letters. Small missing section on Simonas’s foot (19th century)
