Vase Médicis Manufacture De Sèvres Louis XVIII Period
Artist: Sevres
Early 19th-century Medici vase in white and gold porcelain with a polychrome floral garland decoration, approximately 32 cm high. Mark of the Sèvres Manufactory, Louis XVIII period (1815–1824): two Ls, with the word "Sèvres" and a fleur-de-lis in the signature. This mark is easily distinguished from those of the Ancien Régime; it is printed, not handwritten, and the Ls are bolder. The fastening system has been replaced with a stainless steel nut. There is a slight chip on the underside of the vase, invisible when the two parts are together. I also note a very discreet area of abrasion from the old fastening on the base of the vase.
