Neoclassical Frame, Lacquered Wood; Period: 18th Century
Neoclassical Frame, lacquered wood, Period: 18th century
Important Neoclassical "Box" Frame with Temple-style cornice
Period: Late 18th century (18th cent.)
Material: Carved and lacquered wood in shades of cream and sand, with gilded moldings and trim.
Condition: Good, consistent with the period. Small areas of lacquer loss and signs of wear that lend a splendid patina of age.
Refined frame in full Neoclassical style, an expression of late 18th-century architectural elegance. The structure features a prominent projecting cornice with continuous molding, reminiscent of the lintel of a classical temple.
The main body is decorated with a continuous frieze of laurel leaves (or bacchic motifs), finely carved in relief, running along the uprights and crossbars, joined at the corners by an impeccable geometric composition. The interior trim, gilded with gold leaf, features a beaded motif (spindles and beads) that creates a luminous chromatic contrast with the light lacquer finish of the exterior body.
Its monumental proportions and clean lines make it ideal for housing large-format canvases, mirrors, or for use as a prestigious architectural furnishing element.
