Giacomo Steibe (1922-?) - A Glass Of Wine
Oil on canvas. Original canvas. Signed. Dated on back.
Framed by a geometry of broken planes, a young Roman woman with a marble profile observes us from inside the canvas, where her face - a puzzle of ochre light and terracotta shadows - decomposes and recomposes in a cubist dance. Her hands, angles of pure intention, hold a glass of red wine, a ruby hexagon, crystal architecture defying perspective to offer us the soul of the vineyard. She speaks to us not with her voice, but with the rhyme of her staggered shoulders and the lyricism of her eye, which stares at us from the front while the other loses itself in the past, inviting us to cross the color barrier to share this wine which, in her world of contours and dreams, is the only perfect curve of shared intoxication.
Image dimensions unframed: 52 x 70 cm / 68 x 85 cm with exclusive custom-made frame.
