Created by artist sculptor & bronze-maker Auguste Moreau (1834-1917), this renowned artist belonged to a family dynasty of art bronze sculptors, renowned for their creations imbued with the poetry and realism characteristic of the neoclassical and emerging Art Nouveau of the late 19th century.
Trained in his family's studio & a graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris. He made his mark on art history with exhibitions of his work from 1861 onwards at the Salon. His works are marked by a Romantic desire to introduce nature into French sculpture, featuring the figures of children and young girls as allegories.
