Two vestals carry the arms of the three-flame candlestick, adorned with chain pendants. These are surmounted by an oval cup in cobalt-blue glass, set in bronze. The base is in Carrara marble, adorned with a raised belt and stepped borders in fire-gilded bronze.
An exceptionally fine work in burnished and fire-gilded bronze, with an exceptional attribute in cobalt-blue glass.

François Rémond (1747-1812) was one of the greatest Parisian bronziers and ciseleurs-doreurs of the late 18th century. His pairs of candelabra are masterpieces of the Louis XVI, Directoire and early Empire styles, often created in collaboration with the influential marchand-mercier Dominique Daguerre.
