Our painting, monogrammed "AC", was once attributed to Aelbert Cuyp. Our painter, Abraham van Calraet, was in fact strongly influenced by his master, whose works, notably his landscapes bathed in golden morning or evening light, were highly sought-after in the 18th and 19th centuries, in Holland, France and especially England.
Today, a number of landscapes with horses, stable interiors and still lifes with peaches have rightly been reattributed to van Calraet.
