Albert Wenk was a German painter and marine painter of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Wenk studied with landscape painter Josef Adrian van Luppen(1834-1891) at the Artesis Hogeschool Antwerp, then at the Academy of Art inDüsseldorf and with Gustav Schönleber at the State Academy of Fine Artsin Karlsruhe. From 1890 to 1892, he traveled throughout FranceGreat Britain and Italy. He settled in Munich and, from1893, he regularly sent his paintings to exhibitions at the Munichin Munich. Wenk's work mainly features motifs from the MediterraneanMediterranean, particularly the islands of Capri and Sicily. He alsoalso painted marine motifs of Lake Constance, the Rhine and theJersey Island. Wenk was one of the most important German marinepainters of his time. He was a member of the Munich Artists' CooperativeMunich and from 1899 to 1910 general manager of art exhibitions at theGlaspalast. These works can be seen, among other places, at the International Maritime Museum in Hamburg, the Frye Art Museum in Seattle, and in numerous private collections.
