ARMAN (1928–2005) Nice–New York “One Dollar” Silkscreen print on 2 sheets of paper, signed in the lower right corner; Dimensions: 43 x 100 cm Formerly in the Ferrero collection. The signature, likely made with a ballpoint pen, has faded over time but remains visible.

Arman, the signature of Armand Fernandez, born November 17, 1928, in Nice and died October 22, 2005, in New York, was a French artist, painter, sculptor, and visual artist known for his “accumulations” series. He was one of the first to use manufactured objects directly as pictorial material; for him, these objects represented the natural and manifold extensions of the human hand, undergoing a continuous cycle of production, consumption, and destruction.
