18th Century: A Pair Of Large Bergères
Eighteenth century: elegant pair of molded and carved wooden bergères, resting on tapered and fluted legs characteristic of the Louis XVI style. The waistband is highlighted by a string of pearls, and the armrests with cuffed arms follow a sober, perfectly balanced line, typical of the late 18th-century return to Antiquity. The slightly sloping backs are complemented by wide cushioned seats. The ensemble has been reupholstered in a luminous green cotton, highlighting the finesse of the woodwork and adding a fresh touch to the classic spirit of these seats.
Overall good condition, use restoration (upholstery and fabric redone, cushions recently upholstered with a mixture of horsehair and feathers).
