Compagnie Des Indes Porcelain Coffee Pot Silver Mount 18th Century Kangxi
Chinese export porcelain covered vase, Compagnie des Indes, early 18th century (Kangxi / early Yongzheng period), with polychrome and gilded enamel decoration in the Imari taste, featuring peonies and flowering branches. Height: 21 cm.
Beautiful pyriform shape with side handle and spout. The rich, free-form decoration combines iron red, underglaze blue, green and gold highlights, in the tradition of Imari porcelain produced in China for export in the early 18th century.
Hinged lid and silver mount, including poucier, clasp and spout reinforcement.
The composition is very balanced, with a subtle interplay between colored masses and white reserves. Peonies structure the surface, while branches add movement. The vivid palette creates an elegant contrast with the golden highlights that catch the light.
