Perfect condition.
55 original watercolors by the artist (Small watercolor on cover, 2 to 3 watercolors per fable (monogrammed header or lettering, double-page watercolor signed, monogrammed cul-de-lampe (6 fables have none)).
In an edition of 67 copies, the artist having directly painted the watercolors in each one, making them all unique.
1 of 10 head copies on Japon nacré (N°9) (after 1 unique ex. on parchment) containing studies and variants of 2 plates (5 animal details on one page), and one additional original watercolor on parchment : The eagle and the magpie.

Roger André Fernand REBOUSSIN, animal painter and illustrator, born in Sargé (Loir-et-Cher) October 11, 1881, died in Paris February 19, 1965 (French School). Student of Hermann-Léon. Appearing at the Salon des Artistes Français ; honorable mention in1907 ; gold medal in 1937 (Exposition Internationale). He is also member of the Salon d'Automne and won the Grillot-Dard prize in 1945. He illustrated La Revanche du Corbeau by Louis Pergaud. The Musée du Luxembourg owned (Bénézit, ed. 1976, T.8, p.638).
