Art Deco Dance Card, Jewel Of Refinement Bakelite Binding (?)

Ball card. Very luxurious ball card (112 x 70 mm) in translucent material imitating amber (Bakelite (?)) fully perforated on both sides with plant motifs. The dishes are joined by two silver metal hinges, maintaining inside a plate in material imitating ivory with play of veining (ivory (?)). A mechanical pencil in the same metal is set in 2 rings at the other end of the plate, two metal tabs are mounted inside the plates allowing sheets to be inserted, a clasp made of metal makes it possible to maintain all closed. All the metal elements are very finely chiselled. Any small lack in the foliage of one of the dishes, otherwise perfect condition, the mechanical pencil even still has its lead! Although difficult to date, this extraordinary dance card, a jewel of refinement, is typically Art Deco in spirit. Bakelite, if it is indeed this material, was invented in 1907 by Leo Baekeland.
