Large Silvered Bronze And Crystal Hunting Cup 19th Century
Provenance
French work from the late 19th century, attributable to the production of Parisian bronziers d’art active during the extended Napoleon III period. This type of naturalistic composition combining bronze and cut crystal reflects the tradition of prestigious table centerpieces intended for bourgeois and aristocratic interiors.
Description
The piece consists of a sculptural bronze group depicting a dynamic stag hunt. A powerful stag with branching antlers is shown under attack by several hunting dogs: one clings to its back while another grips its throat, creating a vivid sense of tension. A third dog appears at the rocky base. The scene is set on a naturalistic ground suggesting a forest floor. Rising from the center, a tree trunk with finely modeled oak leaves and acorns forms a vertical axis supporting the upper bowl. The crystal bowl is richly cut with deep star patterns, diamond points and radiating geometric motifs, finished with a scalloped rim.
Technique and materials
Cast bronze mount, finely chased and silvered, highlighting anatomical precision and vegetal detail. Thick cut crystal bowl, executed with dense and precise decorative cutting typical of European production.
Dating
Late 19th century, circa 1870–1900, based on the naturalistic style, hunting subject matter, and the characteristic combination of silvered bronze and cut crystal.
Condition
Good overall condition. Even patina to the bronze with minor wear consistent with age. Crystal well preserved, without significant visible damage.

Decorative centerpiece intended for the presentation of fruit, flowers or table arrangements. Suitable for a dining room or formal interior setting.
