"The hunter."
Hailing from Pas de Calais, Prosper Gresy was appointed estate auditor in Arles. He met Augustin Aubert, Émile Loubon, Félix Ziem, Dominique Papety and Adolphe Monticelli, who influenced him. He encouraged Paul Guigou in his early career. A disciple of Jules Dupré, he adopted the motifs of the Barbizon school. He exhibited for the first time in Marseille in 1836 and took part in the Salons Provençaux until 1861. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1837 to 1867.
