Provenance
Produced by the Meissen manufactory, confirmed by the underglaze blue crossed swords mark visible on the underside of the base, as well as by the incised and painted workshop markings and numbering. This model is not attributed to a specific sculptor, but is an original work from the Saxon manufactory's production destined for the international market in the 19th century.

Description
The clock takes the form of a richly developed architectural composition, characteristic of the eclectic taste of the Second Empire. The top is occupied by an allegorical group featuring a male divinity crowned with laurel, accompanied by winged figures and putti, evoking an antique-inspired scene linked to authority and harmony. The circular dial, framed by rocaille decoration, features enameled cartouches with Roman numerals in cobalt blue, arranged around a finely chased and gilded center. The ensemble is richly enriched with naturalistic flowers modeled in high relief - roses, pansies, poppies and other varieties - painted in polychrome and arranged in continuous garlands. At the base, two seated putti holding a floral wreath structure the composition. The clock rests on its original matching porcelain console, decorated with openwork rocailles and painted floral reserves, an essential element in the integrity of the set.

Technique and materials
Meissen hard porcelain, high-relief modeling of great finesse. Polychrome hand-painted decoration. Brush-applied fine gold gilding, alternating matte and glossy effects. Openwork on the sides of the body.

Dating
Second half of the 19th century, Napoleon III period (circa 1850-1880), confirmed by the decorative vocabulary, ornamental richness and manufacturing techniques.

Condition
Good overall condition. Minor wear to gilding. Presence of small chips and occasional restorations on some floral elements, inherent to the fragility of this type of production. Mechanism present.

Use and purpose
Large-format clock intended for a mantelpiece or central console. Designed as the centerpiece of a classic or eclectic interior decor.
