Oil Painting On Cardboard, Vittorio Nomellini (1901, Genoa – 1965, Florence), View Of Lerici

Artist: Vittorio Nomellini
Oil on cardboard depicting a street in Lerici (Liguria) by the painter Vittorio Nomellini, mid-20th century—
Dimensions:Painting 62x48.5 cm, frame 76x62.5 cm
Vittorio was born in 1901 in Genoa; he spent his childhood between Torre del Lago and Fossa dell’Abate, during years when, as his daughter Aurora recalls, figures such as Lorenzo Viani, Galileo Chini, Gabriele d’Annunzio, Eleonora Duse, and Isadora Duncan were regular visitors to their home.
He is the “golden child” of that “Baci di sole” pulsating with luminous energy, signed in 1908 by Plinio Nomellini.
In his paintings, Vittorio Nomellini does indeed demonstrate “a constant devotion to the expressive power of color inherited from his father, while at the same time highlighting his personal ability to introduce into his pictorial vision the suggestions and moods of a figurative culture in great ferment.”
after the war. And the renewed lyricism and spiritual reflection engage with the ferment of the city’s artistic circles, including classical abstraction. But in recent years, the vivid palette, lyrical song, and the sense of nature’s intimate beauty have returned. Another commendable milestone in the celebration of the Saletta Gonnelli’s activities and the role it has played over 140 years in showcasing artists, both emerging and established.
