Victorious warrior
Bronze with brown patina, Sienna yellow step base
Paris, Charles X period
H. 31 x 14.5 x 12 cm
Our bronze sculpture depicts a victorious soldier, shown upright, walking. He is dressed in antique-style attire, holding a wreath of laurels and flowers in his left hand and his regimental baton in his right. His face, hair and finely chiseled tunic are typical of the neoclassical canon still in vogue until the 1850s. The overall aesthetic, derived from ancient Rome and scenes of triumph, rallies the Napoleonic heritage still alive in many people of that era.
Condition report
Some patina wear, a weakness on the baton at ribbon level (due to the thinness of the metal). Other than that, very good overall condition. The bronze patina has good depth
