The frame is entirely pierced with volutes and acanthus leaves of considerable relief. The inner profile, plain in section, cleanly separates the pierced structure from the opening. The decorative repertoire draws on Italian Baroque frame models, following a tradition widely practiced by Italian workshops throughout the 19th century.
