Late 17th Century Pair Of Watercolor Engravings With Biblical Scenes
Refined pair of watercolor engravings on paper, framed in carved and painted wood and protected by glass. Both engravings depict two scenes from the Old Testament: the creation of Eve and the expulsion from Paradise. The first depicts a clearing, dominated by the sun, with animals and trees, while in the center is a reclining Adam, from whom God took the rib to create Eve. The second engraving, however, depicts the landscape of the Earthly Paradise, with Adam and Eve forced to flee in the center. The serpent at their feet is also visible, and an angel reinforcing their expulsion. Both engravings feature the title and a brief description of the subject, both in Latin and Spanish, at the end. This pair of etchings exudes great taste and refinement, showcasing masterful detail and the watercolor technique, adding a touch of antiquity and class to any setting. Spanish manufacture from the late 17th century.
