Carved Wood And Silver-leaf Candlesticks, Genoa, Late 18th Century
Pair of Carved Wood and Silver-Leaf Candlesticks
Genoa, late 18th century
An elegant pair of candlesticks made of finely carved wood and gilded with silver leaf, exemplifying the refined Ligurian craftsmanship of the late 18th century. The turned shafts feature rich phytomorphic motifs and volutes, culminating in a large, corolla-shaped bowl. The bases, dynamic and highly sculptural, are decorated with cartouches, leaves, and shells in the full style of late Genoese Baroque.
The original patina, with natural signs of aging, lends great charm and authenticity to the pieces. Decorative objects with a striking presence, ideal for classic or eclectic interiors, perfect on console tables, mantels, or as a pair flanking a prominent piece of furniture.
